A conversation about how building our own products led to AI employees for other companies - and why our website also tells you what AI can't do.
How did it all start?
I didn't start as an agency. I started with my own products - a platform for a trading community, a bot that answers customers on Telegram, a system that makes a video by itself every morning. They had to run without me, because there was nobody to maintain them by hand. That's how I learned automation - out of necessity, not from a course.
When did you realise this was a business?
When we built Krixel for a signage and facade company. They were losing hours preparing images for large-format print. We built AI software that does it in a minute - on their own computer. Then owners of other companies started asking: “Could we have something like that?” The answer was almost always yes.
Why AI employees and not just websites?
Because a website brings in an enquiry, but someone has to answer it, make a quote, follow it up. I see companies where the most expensive people spend half the day on quotes, copying between programs and reports. That's work a machine does better. And the people get back to the customers.
What annoys you about the AI industry?
The promises. “AI will replace your whole department” - no, it won't. It'll take over what's repetitive. That's why our site also says what AI can't do - for example, that it doesn't own the creative in marketing. I prefer a client who knows exactly what they're buying.
What does working with you look like in practice?
First I listen. Half an hour of conversation and I already know where the hours go. Within three days the client sees a demo with their own data - if they don't like it, they don't pay. We work as a small team and I lead every project personally. You won't be talking to an account manager who forwards emails.
Serious companies ask about data first. What do you tell them?
That they're right to ask. Krixel runs entirely on the user's computer - no cloud, no data leaving. We do the same for companies with sensitive information: AI on their own server that never touches the internet.
Where do you see companies in five years?
Every company will have AI employees the way it has email today. The difference will be between those who set them up well for their business and those who bought a template. We're here for the first kind.
